How do I become a member?
You mean an owner. (No, that's not a typo.) When you open a $25 share account at Jefferson Financial Credit Union, it becomes your "share" of the Credit Union. Ownership entitles you to vote for volunteer Board of Directors, enjoy low-rate loans, high-yield investments and savings, and many other benefits that come along with being a member! And remember, once you're a member, you are always a member . If you leave your current employment, move or relocate, you can always keep your account with Jefferson Financial.
You can join Jefferson Financial if you are:
- employed or retired by Jefferson Parish Public School System
- a student of Jefferson Parish Public School System
- family member of the above
- a resident of Jefferson Parish
Interested in joining Jefferson Financial?
If you fit our field of membership above, you have two ways to join! You can either join online by simply filling out the membership application and submitting it online, or call us at 1-800-259-2471. When you sign-up online, you will be asked to send in a copy of your driver's license with a $30 initial deposit for your savings account. The $25 represents your share in the Credit Union and makes you a member/owner with a say in how things are run by nominating and voting for our Board of Directors and Committee members. The remaining $5 is a one-time membership fee. To open a checking account, first open a savings account. Then review our "Checking Products" page for more details. Complete the checking application online or in the office.
